Among the hotels in Pátzcuaro , the Posada Yolihuani occupies a privileged place because it is near the San Miguel Fountain, a block from the Vasco de Quiroga Plaza in the heart of the city’s historic district and far from the noise and bustle of cars.

We are proud of living in this colonial city full of history that was constructed in the ceremonial center of the Purépecha indigenous ethnic group. Petatzecuaro means the place of big stones in Purépecha.

Our building was originally a family home which was converted into a hotel respecting the original structure and construction materials. Just like many houses, inns and hotels in Pátzcuaro, the preserved architecture means that staying at the Posada Yolihuani is traveling to another time in Mexico.

What makes the Posada Yolihuani different from any other Pátzcuaro hotel is that we try to be as environmentally friendly as possible. We recycle glass, metal and plastic and compost all organic materials that we later use in the gardens. We save electricity by using LED lights and reducing our use of water.

Another difference is that we provide a space for cultural and artistic activities, such as music concerts, theatre, sales of indigenous textiles, yoga class, and mescal tastings (mescal is a local alcohol made from wild agave cactus). Our goal is to share with you the traditions, and the natural and artisanal beauty of this corner of Mexico.

At the Posada Yolihuani, we unite the past with the present, combining cultural traditions with contemporary alternatives to the standardization so widespread in modern life.
